Our Privacy Commitment: The AI Chat Transfer extension stores and processes your actual conversation data strictly on your local device — it is never transmitted anywhere. Separately, we collect anonymous, aggregate usage analytics (e.g., which buttons are used, which platforms are involved) to improve the product. Your conversation content, titles, and messages are never included in this analytics data.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the AI Chat Transfer browser extension ("the Extension") handles your data. The Extension is designed to help you migrate active conversation contexts across various supported AI platforms, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, DeepSeek, and Grok.

2. Data Collection and Storage

Your actual conversation data is handled with a privacy-first, offline-by-default architecture. We do not utilize remote servers or cloud databases for your chats.

Local Storage Only: When you choose to save a conversation, the Extension extracts the text from your active browser tab and saves it exclusively to your browser's local storage (utilizing the chrome.storage.local API).
No Data Transmission of Your Chats: At no point is your conversation content, message text, chat titles, browsing history, or personal identity transmitted over the internet to the developer or any third party.
What is Saved Locally: Only the data you explicitly choose to save is recorded locally. This includes the chat messages, the title of the conversation, timestamps, and the URL of the origin platform.
Anonymous Usage Analytics: Separately, the Extension sends anonymous, aggregate usage events (see Section 4) to help us understand feature usage. This analytics data never contains your conversation content, titles, or previews.

3. Required Browser Permissions

To function correctly, the Extension requires specific browser permissions. These are used strictly to provide the core functionality of saving and injecting chats.

Permission	Purpose and Usage
`storage`	Allows the Extension to save your chat history directly to your device's hard drive via the browser.
Host Permissions	Grants the Extension permission to run its scripts only on the explicitly supported AI websites (e.g., chatgpt.com, claude.ai). This is necessary to read the chat text and inject the floating user interface. A separate host permission for `google-analytics.com` allows the Extension to send the anonymous usage events described in Section 4.
`web_accessible_resources`	Allows the floating interface (the popup widget) to be securely displayed on top of the AI platform's webpage.

4. Third-Party Services and Tracking

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymous, aggregate usage analytics that help us understand feature usage and improve the Extension. This is limited strictly to product-usage events and does not include your conversation content.

What we send to Google Analytics: Anonymous event names (e.g., a save button was clicked, a chat was transferred), which AI platform was involved, and rough message-count ranges (e.g., "1-5", "6-20"). Events are tied to a randomly generated identifier, not your name, email, or account.
What we never send: Your conversation messages, chat titles, previews, URLs of specific conversations, or any other personally identifiable information.
We do not use advertising networks or crash-reporting software.

5. Managing and Deleting Your Data

You retain complete administrative control over your saved data at all times. You can manage your data in the following ways:

Manual Deletion: You can delete specific conversations at any time using the delete icon within the Extension's interface.
Complete Wipe: Uninstalling the Extension from your browser will automatically and permanently purge all locally stored data associated with it. Alternatively, you can clear the Extension's data through your browser's standard privacy settings.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically to reflect feature additions or changes in regulatory requirements. If structural changes are made to how data is handled (e.g., if a cloud-sync feature is ever introduced as an opt-in option), we will provide prominent notice within the Extension and update the effective date at the top of this document.
